To all groups: Well done to all group members for having posted your group discussion's output!
1. After reading the first paragraph, we can simply deduce that the writer used to drink alcohol 12 years ago and now he completely abhors people who take in alcohol.
2. There are few reasons which made the writer’s view about drinking to change. Drinking and drunks used to fill him with hatred. Moreover he saw his close friends, even people of intelligence, wit and style changed to fools by liquor. He also saw his friends to destroy their marriages, abuse their children and destroy their careers. He even had to bury some people who died because of alcohol.
3. The author included some examples to support his view. Such as:
- In New Bedford, Mass, a 21 year old woman was beaten and repeatedly raped by a gang of drunks in a bar called the Big Dan’s. There were at least 15 spectators to her violation; they did nothing to prevent it. All of them were drunk or drinking.
- In New York, four teen aged boys were killed when a car driven by a fifth kid smashed into a concrete wall at 90 mph. The were all under the legal drinking age of 19; nevertheless they had managed to spend a long night drinking in a public bar, and got drunk enough to die.
4. The writer wrote this paragraph in order to provide knowledge of the facts in it which will keep the reader about what can happen to a person who drinks regularly.
5. Liquor is a strong alcoholic drink. As it is in liquid state and contains drugs the author considered it to be a wet drug.
6. Paragraph 7
7. The author wants the media to show the clips of destroyed teenagers, their broken and bleeding bodies after every beer commercial. He also wants the government to ban cigarette as well as alcohol advertisement from TV.
8. The writer implies smoker a lesser devil because smokers only kill themselves by their habit, while drinkers get on their wheels and kill strangers. They don’t know that the rest of us exist and they even don’t care about it.
We agree with the writer’s compliment.
9. The phrase 'criminal narcissists' tells us about the people who drink alot. They are self centered and they don't even bother about anyone else in this world. This is because when they are drunk their body system doesn't work properly.
10. Absolutely yes! No need to think about this matter.
This is because the author displayed the effects of drinking by including incidents that happened around him, provided us with alot of facts and even sharing his experinences. The author did not only mention the effects in this passage he even stated that the habit of drinking can be given off, which would be very helpful for someone who is willing to do so.
1.The author was an alcoholic earlier on in his life. He's not a religious person.
2.He has encountered several unpleasant incidences concerning alcohol such as ruined marriages and wrecked families.
3.He has seen his intelligent friends become fools and children being brutalized, and reading about car accidents due to alcohol.
4.He is trying to emphasize on the harmful effects of the wet drug.
5.It is as addictive and harmful as the other drugs but it is in liquid form.

Hi all! Thanks for the collective answers on "The Wet Drugs" comprehension questions. In the future I would encourage every group to actually rephrase your answers instead of just doing direct lifting of answers from the read passage. We will look more into this matter this week for the 3rd Reading, that is "Serving the Nation:The Universal Call".
